Individual Counseling

for Adults

Individual counseling services provided are tailored to your individual needs. The primary therapeutic modalities used at Courageous Counseling are CBT, ACT, and person-centered, but clinicians may incorporate other types of therapy to best meet your needs. Populations we serve and issues we address include (but are not limited to) challenges unique to women, men, LGBTQ+, non-binary, and other unique identities, acculturation difficulties, maternal mental health, relationship issues, major life changes, depression, anxiety, parenting struggles, grief, single parenting, individuals impacted by social justice struggles, individuals impacted by socioeconomic and racial disparities, and many others. Please ask if you are unsure whether we have a therapist who is able to meet your needs.

Couples

Counseling

We provide counseling to couples primarily using the Gottman Model. All couples are unique, so we may also incorporate CBT, emotion-focused, Imago, and other treatment modalities at times. We serve cis/hetero couples, LGBTQ+, intercultural, blended families, and other unique types of relationships. Our approach is hands on in that we will directly work with you and your partner to practice skills such as communication, conflict resolution, and supporting each other more effectively, as well as provide you skills to practice and activities to do together between sessions to support what you have learned in session. Contact us to find out if you and your partner may be good candidates for couples counseling with us!

Individual Counseling for Teens and Tweens

Courageous Counseling provides individual therapy to tweens and adolescents ages *11 to 17. Parental involvement is a crucial aspect of working with minors. We will help you learn how to best support your child while they go through treatment. We often help teens and tweens who are facing issues such as social isolation, technology addiction, social and relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, conflict with family, self-esteem and body image, suicidal thoughts, self-injurious behavior or thoughts of self-harm, and identity struggles. The type of therapy used will depend on what your child's clinician determines will be most helpful after learning more about their learning style and needs.

*If your child is younger than 11, please inquire directly about whether we can provide counseling to your child, as some clinicians will occasionally make exceptions based on certain criteria.
